The Republic of Tea Introduces Dessert-Inspired Theo & Thea™ Teas
The Four Cacao-Based Teas Debut with Indulgent, Nostalgic Flavors
LARKSPUR, CALIF. (March 1, 2023) - The Republic of Tea, leading purveyor of premium teas and herbs, is delighted to announce the launch of its newest tea collection, Theo & Thea, which is inclusive of four decadent teas inspired by nostalgic desserts. Comprised of two spirit-lifting superfoods, cacao and tea, the blends utilize Nicaraguan roasted cacao beans combined with complex notes of premium full-leaf China Keemun black tea to create the flavorful, yet guilt-free flavors of Bananas Foster, Mint Chip Crème, Blood Orange Spice, and Caramel Coconut.

The namesake “Theo & Thea” derives from theobromine and L-theanine, the two mood-boosting compounds found in cacao and tea. Theobromine is a natural, non-addictive stimulant naturally found within the antioxidant-boosting cacao that provides long-lasting energy without the jitters or crash of caffeine, while the tea plant’s L-theanine elevates serotonin, dopamine, and GABA levels in the brain, positively regulating mood, emotions, concentration, sleep and appetite. Further, with upcycled and sustainably-farmed cacao beans, along with biodegradable and recyclable packaging, the blends allow tea-drinkers to treat themselves in an eco-conscious manner.
The Theo & Thea collection includes:
Bananas Foster – Indulge in a cup that conjures up a classic dessert with the organic, natural flavors of bananas cooked in butter and rum, topped with vanilla ice cream, in a base of sweet, rich tea and chocolate.
Blood Orange Spice – Enliven your cup with organic, natural flavors of bright, zesty blood orange, vanilla and exotic cardamom. Combined with a delicious base of tea and chocolate, the blend offers the perfect combination of sweet and spice.
Mint Chip Crème – Satisfy your craving for ice cream with the organic, natural flavor combination of refreshing, cool peppermint, combined with rich, robust flavors of tea and chocolate.
Caramel Coconut – Satiate that sweet tooth with the perfect combination of organic, natural flavors: smooth caramel combined with tropical coconut. Blended with a delicious tea and chocolate base, this cup provides a smooth, heavenly dessert flavor.
The Theo & Thea Teas retail for $18.99 per tin. The label art on each tea tin was hand-painted and crafted to emulate the ethnic regions it comes from – much like an artisanal chocolate bar label. The collection is now available at www.republicoftea.com and specialty retailers nationwide. Each tin holds 14 gluten-free, non-GMO tea sachets free of tags, strings and staples. The collection debuts as the company’s first tea in commercially compostable sachets.
