Darjeeling is widely regarded as the ultimate tea experience, boasting a light liquor flavor with a pleasant, sweet character that elicits a distinctively floral, aromatic tea. The “First Flush” refers to the first hand-plucking of the freshly grown leaves, which takes place at the beginning of each spring. The window of harvest and the amount harvested is extremely limited, making tea from a First Flush a coveted treasure to enjoy. The Republic of Tea travels to the region firsthand every year to carefully choose their Darjeeling tea leaves, then air freights the selections to ensure the freshest quality tea possible. This year’s harvest exhibits fresh, vibrant green leaves with silver tips, producing a bright amber liquor. The 2023 First Flush Darjeeling is the 21st edition of The Republic of Tea’s Darjeeling Art Collector’s Series; the tin features custom artwork by Cydney Williams. The beautiful label displays a watercolor and caran d’Ache wax work, which was created on handmade paper from Nepal on the roof of a tea house overlooking the Begnas Lake and the Himalayas.
